David Owens

David John Owens (he, them) was born and raised in the Rosemont area of Regina, attending Rosemont Elementary School and Martin Collegiate.  David has been a member of the RIIS Cemetery Commemorative Association since 2016, eventually holding the Vice-president position and interim President roles.  David resides in Regina and is employed at SaskTel.

He was also a Board member of Sexual Assault Services of Saskatchewan (SASS), held numerous committee positions within the union, Unifor 1S, and is currently a member of the SaskTel Aboriginal Employee Network (SAEN) and the SaskTel Employee Rainbow Alliance (SERA), 2 entities within SaskTel that focuses on culture, environment, and well-being of diverse groups of employees.

During his time with RIIS, the Association has petitioned and been granted heritage status at Municipal and Provincial levels and has acquired the RIIS Cemetery land from private ownership to an Association that honors and protects the land and the children that rest there.
